Crabgrass Control
Crabgrass is a warm season annual grass. If our cool-season perennial grasses are in poor condition, crabgrass will take over every empty space. The seeds stay in the soil for years and when conditions are right they will sprout. The crabgrass will have less chance to sprout if the lawns are well watered, fertilized, mowed and kept healthy.
Control:
- Apply either Greenview Crabicide the first of May, or Greenview Spring Fertilizer w/Weed Control. Read the instructions carefully.
- By late July or August crabgrass is established and liquid chemical sprays will be ineffective.
General Care:
- Throughout the growing season be consistent with watering.
- Amend or aerate the soil if it is heavy, clay or compacted.
- Fertilize the lawn with the proper fertilizer recommended for the season.
Mowing:
- Remove 1/3rd of the blade length.
- Mow frequently.
ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN APPLYING ANY CHEMICAL.
