Internship - Flower Mart Area Supervisor

Linder’s Flower Mart is offering a paid internship position to Horticulture professionals / students interested in gaining practical hands on experience in the Retail Garden Center industry.

This is a full time temporary position in the Twin Cities Metro Area from March through July.

Duties include:

  • Inventory control.
  • Merchandising.
  • Delivering materials.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School or GED equivalent required, enrollment in a horticulture program or college degree preferred.
  • Experience in the nursery/horticulture industry.
  • Must be self motivated and disciplined with strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Candidate must have excellent communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to operate a light weight truck (city van), forklift and bobcat.

Horticultural Grower

Grow horticultural crops, such as bedding plants, potted crops and perennials.

Job Description

We are seeking a grower with production experience to fill this seasonal position. You would be working at our production range in Lake Elmo MN. We are looking for someone that can work well with our current team and can work without close supervision. Flexibility and strong communication skills are highly desired. Must be able to lift 5 to 10 pounds repetitively.

Below is a list of activities you would be responsible for:

  • Seed and vegetative propagation.
  • Managing the transplanting of plugs to final containers.
  • Help with order pulling and shipping.
  • Crop production including the proper application of fertilizer, pesticides and growth regulators.
  • Being able to operate equipment (i.e. bobcat, tractor) safely is a plus.
  • Possible offer of full time position with benefits after the season.
